Bangarra Dance Theatre’s Horizon at Sydney Opera House | 12 June – 13 July 2024

Dates: Wednesday 12 June 2024 to Saturday 13 July 2024
Location: Sydney Opera House Sydney NSW 2000 Australia

Horizon is a brand-new work created by two of the world’s greatest First Nations. Some describe it as a feeling, while others refer to it as the mother spirit. It’s the point where the water meets the sky, the horizon we all look to, and the compass that leads us home.

Bangarra’s first mainstage cross-cultural collaboration features Māori choreographer and Arts Laureate Moss Te Ururangi Patterson and alumnus Deborah Brown. They work together to shepherd Bangarra’s award-winning ensemble through stories that honor their mother countries and the spirit that draws them home.

Bangarra is a company of professional Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander performers. As one of Australia’s foremost performing arts companies, they share their culture with communities and audiences across the country and around the world. Bangarra began in 1989, although its dance approach is based on over 65,000 years of history, manifested in current movement.

Each year, they launch a new piece at the Sydney Opera House in June and July, followed by a national tour.
