Soft Centre returns to Vivid Sydney 2026 with one of its most intense and physically charged programs yet, transforming the iconic City Recital Hall into a full-scale late-night rave environment on 5 June 2026.
This special takeover explores the extremes of club culture, tracing the lineage from 1990s hardcore rave scenes through to contemporary experimental electronic and audiovisual performance. Expect high-impact sound, immersive visuals, and a crowd-driven experience built around rhythm, movement, and sensory overload.

A Night of Hardcore Rave Energy & Experimental Performance
Soft Centre continues its reputation for pushing boundaries between club culture, performance art, and experimental sound design. For this edition, the program dives deep into the aesthetics of hardcore rave culture and its evolution into modern audiovisual chaos.
At the centre of the night, Gabber Eleganza presents The Hakke Show, a high-energy live reactivation of gabber culture. Emerging from an archival exploration of 1990s hardcore aesthetics, the project transforms historical rave movement into a living, breathing performance. Dancers clad in tracksuits perform the iconic Hakke style to a relentless hardcore megamix, recreating the collective intensity of legendary Thunderdome-era dancefloors.
Returning after their acclaimed appearance at SC23 x Vivid Sydney, Japan’s Violent Magic Orchestra deliver a new audiovisual assault combining crushing sub-bass, industrial textures, pneumatic percussion and extreme metal influence. Their performance pushes the limits of live electronic music, merging sound and visual intensity into a single overwhelming experience.

The night opens with a selection of boundary-pushing Australian and international artists exploring experimental club forms and distorted rave aesthetics.
