Vivid Sydney, the annual festival that transforms the city into a wonderland of light art installations, music performances, and creative ideas, is set to return from 24 May to 15 June 2024. This year’s theme, “Humanity,” promises to explore the essence of what makes us uniquely human through a diverse program designed to foster connections, spark imagination, and showcase creativity.

Vivid Sydney Light Walk

The iconic Vivid Sydney Light Walk will be an 8km journey that invites visitors to immerse themselves in a visual feast of light art. Starting from Circular Quay, the walk will wind past The Rocks and Barangaroo, culminating at Wynyard. Highlights include “Gumscape with Road and Creatures,” a surreal Aussie road trip by Reg Mombassa, and “Lighting of the Sails: Echo (2024)” by Julia Gutman, which will transform the sails of the Sydney Opera House into a patchwork of fabric.

Vivid Live at Sydney Opera House Vivid LIVE at the Sydney Opera House is a cornerstone of the festival, featuring a lineup of global acts and local talents. This year, the Opera House will host artists like Fever Ray, Arca, and the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, presenting a mix of Australian premieres and exclusive performances.

Live Music

Vivid Sydney’s live music scene will ignite the city with a curated program of concerts and DJ sets across various venues. Tumbalong Nights will offer 12 nights of free performances in Tumbalong Park at Darling Harbour. The lineup includes diverse acts such as Budjerah, Mos Def, and Air, ensuring there’s something for every music lover.
