Many people in Australia may face particular, occasionally upsetting obstacles because of their name when navigating education, the job, and daily living. This panel discussion and storytelling session explore how we view and accept names that are unjustly labeled as “foreign,” “tricky,” or “unfamiliar.”y in Vivid Sydney.
Hear Drs. Elaine Laforteza, Sunil Badami, Kumi de Silva, and Mariko Smith talk about their personal experiences and the historical, cultural, and familial connections behind their names under the moderator Jan Fran. Say My Name will also offer guidance and resources on how we may correct mispronunciations and cooperate to create a society that is more inclusive and kind.
