Amy Dowd, a Naarm-based musician and proud Noongar lady known by her stage name Bumpy, is one of the country’s most exhilarating, transportive soul singers, with a voice that is both sensitive and towering. Bumpy lit up the stage as part of Astral People’s birthday festivities at Vivid LIVE last year, and she returns this year to make her headline solo debut at the Sydney Opera House Utzon Room.

Bumpy emerged from Melbourne’s creatively vibrant culture, performing with First Nations hip-hop band DRMNGNOW and jazz-infused psych-soul outfit Squid Nebula before striking out on her own with her hypnotic debut single ‘Falling’ in 2020. After organizing the opening night of Melbourne Music Week in 2021, Bumpy returned in 2022 with ‘Return Home’, winning the Music Victoria Award for Emerging Talent as well as the triple j Unearthed National Indigenous Music Award. In 2023, her debut album Morning Sun received critical acclaim for its touching, soulful tone, receiving New Talent of the Year at the NIMAs and Best Soul, Funk, R&B, and Gospel work at the Music Victoria Awards. That year, she was also chosen for the coveted First Nations Artist Residency Program at the Melbourne International Jazz Festival.

Bumpy, a vibrant singer and creative force, uses her truth, individuality, and tremendous vocal skills to make music that touches the soul.
