Enda Walsh, the author of Once, creates a performance that nearly defies categorization: a crazy combination of tale, physicality, and technical mastery.
Isla spends her days in a state-controlled tower block, trading her memories for the opportunity to live. Her only companion is an unidentified young man who records her stories on the other side of the wall. As he provides glimpses into the world beyond the tower, an unusual love story emerges, imposing an unthinkable fate. Enda Walsh’s grim fable of surveillance, isolation, and captivity is gripped by a harsh dictatorship, but hope and love splinter its edges.
Enda Walsh’s dystopian drama Arlington, which premiered at the Galway International Arts Festival and went on to have a smash hit run at St Ann’s Warehouse in New York, will get its Australian premiere at the Seymour Centre in 2024.
