Like a single pebble creating ripples across a vast lake, one person’s dream has the power to reshape the future. Martin Luther King Jr.’s iconic I Have a Dream speech in 1963 still stands as one of the key examples of how words can ignite movements, shift perspectives and alter the course of history.

In partnership with Sydney Writers’ Festival, Dreams of the Future: Powerful Stories for Change brings together an extraordinary line-up of writers—from poets and songwriters to novelists and journalists—for a one-time reading of original short works that envision a world that lies just beyond our horizon.

Covering a diverse range of themes and literary forms, this night of future-focused storytelling highlights the enduring power of the spoken word to inspire, challenge and reimagine. The lineup includes climate justice advocate Anjali Sharma, rapper, changemaker Ziggy Ramo, artist, activist and screenwriter Aretha Brown, editor, creative director and writer Megha Kapoor, activist, writer and journalist Sisonke Msimang, Detransition, Baby author Torrey Peters and broadcaster and human rights advocate Craig Foster.

This event is presented in partnership with Sydney Writers’ Festival.
