Vancouver’s Mary Ancheta Quartet crafts genre-defying jazz, electro-funk and R&B that shimmers with cinematic texture. Lead by acclaimed Canadian-Filipina keyboardist Mary Ancheta, they’re bringing a scorching ACO Neilson set that you won’t want to miss.

Inspired by the likes of Squarepusher, The Meters and Prince, the band’s sound is characterised by a radical reworking of genres. It’s an approach that springs to life in electrifying stage performances, with Dominic Conway on sax, Matt Reid on bass and Paul Clark on drums.

Mary Ancheta cut her teeth playing keyboards with a variety of Canadian artists and teaching at the Ontario Conservatory of Music, before embarking on a wide-ranging career as a musician, performer, producer and composer for television networks including Netflix, HBO and National Geographic.

Don’t miss this irresistible invitation to groove.

“Crackles with energy… Mary Ancheta lets the funk fly.”
