Celebrating 50 Years since Aussie cultural icon and LGBTQIA+ pioneer, Jeanne Little OAM “fell onto TV”!
The youngest of 7 children raised by an inspirational single mother, Jeanne Little overcame a debilitating stutter and from an early age began recreating the looks of her favourite heroine movie stars with make up and fashion.
Way ahead of her time inventing couture with whatever was available, even it if meant cutting up her mother’s ironing board cover, Jeanne later opened, in her words a “failing dressmaking business”. Pregnant with her only child Katie, she was suddenly thrown onto live television to fill a spot showing off her outlandish maternity dresses, and within two years skyrocketed to scoop the 1976 coveted Gold Logie for Most Popular Personality.
