From the collection: Jagath Dheerasekara and Salvatore Zofrea bring together two important artworks from the Campbelltown City Council Art Collection: Jagath Dheerasekara’s video installation ‘Not so white: regained territories’ (2017) and Salvatore Zofrea’s series of woodblock prints ‘Appasionata’ (1994-99).

Dheerasekara and Zofrea, well-known artists who live and operate in the Greater Western Sydney region, are affected by their personal and collective migratory memories and experiences. Each artist’s life experience influences their tremendous artistic approach, as proven by these outstanding works.

Since 1988, the Campbelltown City Council Art Collection has grown into a diversified collection of artworks that reflect contemporary arts practices and are relevant to Western Sydney. The collection, housed at Campbelltown Arts Centre, includes over 1400 pieces by important Australian painters.
