4A Centre for Contemporary Asian Art presents *An Offering, A Burning, A Prayer*, a major exhibition and the centrepiece of its Lunar New Year celebrations, unfolding across both 4A’s main gallery and 4A LAB spaces.

Curated by Con Gerakaris, the exhibition brings together a compelling group of contemporary artists—Choy Ka Fai, Casey Chen, WeiZen Ho, Emma Pham, Jason Phu, and Savanhdary Vongpoothorn—featuring a mix of newly commissioned works alongside significant recent pieces.

Grounded in themes of renewal, freedom, and self-expression, the exhibition approaches Lunar New Year as a powerful moment of transition and transformation. Set against the dynamic symbolism of the Year of the Fire Horse, it reflects on ideas of new beginnings, clarity of direction, and renewed momentum. At its core are gestures of release—letting go of what no longer serves—and embracing subtle, healing shifts that occur between cycles of change.

Bringing together Asian Australian and Asian perspectives, *An Offering, A Burning, A Prayer* explores deeply personal and collective narratives that move between family, memory, identity, and care. The exhibition unfolds across a rich range of mediums, including video, installation, sculpture, and material-based practices, creating an immersive and layered experience for visitors.

Drawing on the symbolism of ritual, fire, and acts of offering, the works invite audiences to consider transformation not as a singular event, but as something lived, embodied, and ongoing. Through moments of remembrance and reflection, the exhibition highlights the resilience found in continuity, the importance of care, and the quiet strength in choosing to move forward.

Together, these works form a thoughtful and evocative meditation on change—honouring the past while embracing the possibilities of what lies ahead.
