Martin Place Tree Lighting and Christmas Concert
The main City of Sydney Chrissy events unfold in Martin Place, when the city's largest Christmas tree gets a hit of electricity. The Tree Lighting ceremony, an annual event, happens at 6pm, followed by the Children's Christmas Concert where the red-suited man of the hour will arrive in his sleigh, arm in arm with Sydney's Lord Mayor, Clover Moore.
While fireworks explode off the top of surrounding city office blocks, the Hooley Dooleys, Play School Live (featuring Matt Passmore and Leah Vandenberg), The Australian Youth Choir and host Georgie Parker will party on down.
